Our Story
It's hard to believe that our story began TEN years ago! In April 2014, Brie attended a Michigan Marching Band meeting as a prospective member. We first met in the equipment staff office where Eric helped Brie check out her first MMB tenor sax.
When our chair auditions landed us next to each other for the season, our friendship quickly grew. Eric kept pestering Brie to join Basketball Band, which never did happen because she missed the audition deadline. We spent a lot of band rehearsals on the Reserve Field together, and rumor has it that the first time we held hands was because it was part of our marching band drill, when everyone held hands and ran in a circle to form an asteroid on the field.
We were always close friends in band, but it wasn't until after we both graduated that our friendship became something more. Ever the romantic, Eric's exact words were, "so next time we hang out, do you wanna call it a date?"
Our first date was a hike in Ann Arbor (and four years later it became the spot where Eric proposed!). In the early days of our relationship, Brie would visit Eric at his Bill's Beer Garden side job, and Eric tolerated an innumerable amount of burrs in his life when Brie worked for the State Parks. In return, Brie tolerated an innumerable amount of Taco Bell.
In late 2019, we planned our first big trip together. Soon we'd be on our way to Prague in May 2020! ...or would we? (Spoiler alert: we would not!) Eric's dreams of whisking Brie away on a romantic European vacation would have to wait.
Instead, we spent the pandemic exploring and camping around Michigan. Oscoda, Mackinac Island, Pictures Rocks, and Kitch-iti-kipi were some of our faves. (When Brie asked Eric what his favorites were, he said "I can't choose, they're all perfect because they were with you." Awww!)
And our Prague dreams finally came true in 2022!
2023 was a whirlwind -- we got engaged, had an intimate wedding ceremony, went to the Norwegian Arctic, and moved into our first apartment together!
Not to be outdone, 2024 kicked off with us becoming homeowners in our beautiful 1800s farmhouse. We always said, "we'll have a big wedding celebration when we have a house," and now the time has come! We can't wait to celebrate with everyone!!!
